Councilmember Ash Kalra, District 2 (Tree #639)

We chose the theme based on the popularity of Hello Kitty and because we knew it would be a crowd pleaser. We've received tons of positive feedback!

For Halloween, I was able to host two Halloween Safety Centers, one out of my own house and the other in the Palmia neighborhood. My staff and I passed out over 500 glow stick necklaces to trick-or-treaters, thereby increasing their visibility while making their candy collecting rounds.

During the Thanksgiving weekend, I hosted the 2nd Annual Holiday Warm Up on Black Friday at my home. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, a group of over 30 volunteer participants spent the morning collecting new and gently used clothing and preparing bag lunches for the folks that really need assistance.

With the holidays quickly approaching, the D2 team and I have also had the opportunity to participate in several local holiday events such as the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot, which raised money for charitable organizations like the Second Harvest Food Bank, and the tree lighting ceremony for Christmas in the Park.
